University of Miami head women’s tennis head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Jan. 7, 2025, the rehiring of David Anderton.

Anderton joins Miami for his second stint after serving from 2003-07. During his time with the Hurricanes, he was named the 2007 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year after an Elite Eight run.

Under Anderton’s assistance, the team reached the NCAA finals in 2006 for the first time since 1985, and qualified for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships for three consecutive years. Alongside Yaroshuk-Tews, Anderton coached some of the most successful players in the history of the program including two ITA National Players of the Year Audra Cohen, the 2007 NCAA Singles National Champion, and Megan Bradley, the 2004 ITA National Indoor Champion. Additionally, he helped Audrey Banada to, at the time, hold the most career singles wins and doubles wins at the U.

The four years Anderton collaborated with Yaroshuk-Tews was part of the essential development of the Miami women’s tennis program to become one of the forefront teams in collegiate tennis. Miami reached the NCAA Team Championships in each of Anderton’s four years with the program, including lthe 2006 season where they compiled a 24-7 record, after an impressive showing at the NCAA Tournament. Miami was consistently ranked among the top ten teams in the country in those four seasons. During Miami’s impressive run to the NCAA finals of 2006, Anderton helped the Miami women’s tennis team defeat both No. 2 Notre Dame and No.3 Southern California in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to joining the Miami staff, Anderton spent two seasons as the women’s assistant coach at the University of Alabama, and also worked as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis programs at Western Michigan University from 1998-99. Anderton played tennis for four years at Bowling Green where he was co-captain and earned a degree in Psychology in 1998.
