BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
After battling through injuries his first three seasons in Coral Gables, finally had a healthy year in 2009, appearing in 15 games and tossing 58 1/3 innings … Owns Miami’s best career winning percentage (.875), compiling a record of 14-2 as a Hurricane … Served as Miami’s primary mid-week starter for the 2009 season … Will again serve as a starter for the `Canes in 2010, either on Sundays or again during the mid-week.

SENIOR SEASON – 2009
•Owned the staff’s best record in 2009, going 6-1 on the year
•Ranked fourth on the team in innings pitched (58.1)
•Appeared in 15 games, making seven starts
•Opened the season as reliever before moving into the team’s top mid-week starter beginning on March 18
•Tossed a career-high seven innings against FAU on April 14
•Struck out a season-high six against the Owls on April 7
•Went 3-0 in three starts against FAU, allowing seven earned runs while striking out 10 in 18 2/3 innings combined
•Earned a save late in the year with three innings of work at Wake Forest on May 16
•One of 50 hurlers nationally named in the College Baseball Foundation’s watch list for pitcher of the year.

JUNIOR SEASON – 2008
•Had team’s third-lowest ERA (2.29)
•Earned all three starts in the month of March (Lehigh – 3/4, Penn State – 3/11, Cornell – 3/18)
•Most effective outing came against Penn State, tossing a career-long scoreless six innings while holding the Nittany Lions to just three hits
•Earned his first career save against Cincinnati (2/24), tossing three scoreless inning against the Bearcats to close out UM’s 8-0 win
•Had another solid outing against Florida (3/1), keeping the Gators off the board in 3.1 innings of work in relief
•Held opponents to just a .192 batting average against him

SOPHOMORE SEASON – 2007
•Posted a 4-0 mark with a 1.42 ERA in five appearances
•Started against LaSalle (3/7) and Rutgers (3/14)
•Pitched 5.2 innings against Rutgers (3/14), striking out a career-high seven batters to win his fourth game of the season in his second start
•Made second start and tossed 5.0 innings against LaSalle (3/7), allowing one earned run while striking out three in third win of the season
•Against Elon (2/25), pitched three scoreless and hitless innings in relief
•Threw 3.2 innings in relief at Florida (2/18), allowing one hit while striking out two in a 10-7 series finale win

FRESHMAN SEASON – 2006
•Went 1-1 with a 7.07 ERA and eight strikeouts in 14.0 innings
•Missed most of the second half with an injury to his non-throwing hand
•Earned his first career win in his first career start against Fordham (3/14)
•Pitched 2.0 innings of relief and gave up one run on three hits with a strikeout against Louisville (2/15)
•Gave up two walks in two innings of scoreless work in UM’s 16-4 win over the Eagles on Feb. 3
•Made his collegiate debut in the season opener against FIU (1/28), giving up one hit while striking out two in the final two innings of a 17-3 win

REDSHIRT SEASON – 2005
•Recovered from 2004 Tommy John surgery and did not pitch

PREP CAREER
•Played for former Hurricanes’ standout Lazaro Gutierrez at Coral Gables High School
•Pitched for three years for the Cavaliers
•Posted a 7-2 record with a 1.38 ERA and 58 strikeouts his senior year
•Earned first-team All-Dade County honors and third-team All-State honors as a senior
•As a junior in 2003, went 5-5 with a 2.12 ERA and recorded 52 strikeouts en route to earning second-team All-Dade County honors
•Earned All-Dade County honorable mention in 2002 after a 4-2 campaign
•Posted a 2.89 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 2002
