CAREER: Returning starter at defensive tackle…Stocky run defender who has played in 28 games with eight starts over three seasons…Has career totals of 56 tackles, five tackles for loss, eight QB pressures, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries…Productive veteran started eight of 12 games played in 2006…Had a remarkable recovery from a spring 2005 ACL injury and played in five games in the second half of that season (he had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in practice the day before the 2005 spring game)…Played in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2004 as a key reserve, often playing in short-yardage and goal-line defenses…Liberal arts major.


2006 (JUNIOR): Finished the season as one of two starting defensive tackles…Slowed early in the season after having his knee scoped…Played in 12 games, making eight starts…Finished with a career-best 25 tackles, including five tackles for loss, eight QB pressures, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery…Played as a reserve in the first two games, making one assisted tackle against Florida State and no tackles vs. FAMU…Moved into the starting lineup at Louisville, making two tackles (one solo) and a forced fumble…Started vs. Houston and made one tackle…Started and played most of the North Carolina game, having his most productive game of the year. Tallied five tackles (two solo), including his first two sacks of the season and had a fumble recovery…Started against FIU, with one tackle for a loss and one assist…Did not start at Duke but played in the rotationon, making one solo tackle…Played but didn’t have any tackles at Georgia Tech…Regained his starting role in the Virginia Tech game and made a season-high seven tackles (four solo), with one tackle for loss…Started at Maryland and played nearly all of the game (32 of 37 snaps), registering two tackles (one solo), with one tackle for loss and a QB pressure…Started at Virginia and tallied three assisted tackles and one QB pressure before suffering a lower back injury…Did not play against Boston College (back)…Started in the MPC Computers Bowl vs. Nevada and made one assisted tackle.


2005 (SOPHOMORE): Returned from ACL surgery in seven months and played in the final five games of the season…Registered 10 tackles (six solo), along with two tackles for loss, a 19-yard sack, one QB pressure and one fumble recovery…Suffered the injury the day before the spring game (April 8) and had a remarkable recovery…Sat out the first seven games, then played for the first time at Virginia Tech, making two tackles, one QB pressure and one fumble recovery…Played 43 snaps a week later at Wake Forest, making six tackles (three solo), with two tackles for loss and a 19-yard sack…Played as a reserve vs. Georgia Tech, making one solo tackle…Made one tackle against Virginia…Played as a reserve in the Peach Bowl vs. Louisiana State (no tackles).


2004 (FRESHMAN): Played in 11 games as a backup defensive tackle, missing one game with an injury…Recorded 21 tackles (four solo), six tackles for loss, five QB pressures and 2.5 sacks…Made one tackle in his first game for UM in the season opener vs. FSU…Played extensively a week later vs. Louisiana Tech, making five tackles, including two sacks and one tackle for loss…Made four tackles, a half sack, two QB pressures and one pass breakup at Houston…Made one tackle at Georgia Tech…Missed the Louisville game with a neck burner…Returned for the NC State game and registered one tackle and one QB pressure…Made one QB pressure a week later at North Carolina…Played as a reserve DT vs. Clemson, making three tackles…Played at Virginia but had no tackles…Made two tackles vs. Wake Forest, including one for loss…Made one tackle vs. Virginia Tech…In the Peach Bowl vs. Florida, registered three assisted tackles, one tackle for loss and one QB pressure.


2003 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the 2003 season as a redshirt, practicing on the scout team.


HIGH SCHOOL: Explosive and quick defensive tackle who was a dominant player for Ely’s state titlists…Selected as the 2002 Defensive Player of the Year by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel…As a senior in 2002, made 60 tackles and seven sacks…As a junior in 2001, made 86 tackles and 12 sacks…Two-time All-District and All-Area selection…Chose Miami over Iowa and Mississippi…Coached by Steve Davis.
