2012-13 (Junior): Returned to team after two-year hiatus…Made season debut at FGCU, competing in 200 Freestyle (2:29.96), 100 Free (55.46) and with 200 Free Relay team, which captured fifth (1:43.34)…Competed in 100 Free (56.48) and 200 Free Relay (1:43.17) at Houston…Posted time of 1:04.17 in 100 Backstroke against FSU…Touched wall in season-best time of 24.95 in 50 Free at 2013 ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
2009-10 (Freshman): Raced in four 50 freestyle events… Posted her best 50 free time with a 25.84 performance in a third place mark in a UM win over Central Connecticut State… Turned in a time of 25.87 against Florida Atlantic… Collected her best 200 freestyle time of 1:57.09 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships… Finished with a time of 1:58.53 at the Ohio State Invitational… Posted a time of 5:09.37 in the 500 free during the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships… Served leadoff in the 400 medley relay at the Ohio State Invite, with the team posting a time of 3:58.44 – and Smiddy collecting a split time of 1:01.93 in the 100 backstroke portion… Third leg on the 200 freestyle relay squad that posted a time of 1:37.48 at the Ohio State Invite… Third leg on the team’s fastest 400 free relay team (3:25.32) with a split time of 52.54 at the ACC Championships…
High School/Prep: Attended home school, but competed athletically for Gulliver Prep… Took part in the 100- and 200 freestyle… Finished first in the consolation final of the 1-A State Meet in the 200 free as a senior… Named All-Dade First Team in the 200 free five times (2003, ’04, ’05, ’06 and ’08)… Selected a team captain in 2006 and ’08…
Personal: Parents are Bill and Julie Smiddy… Has six siblings – Matt, Rebecca, Andrew, Sam, Clara and Rose… Says her best sports memory came during her senior year when she swam with her little sister on the same team.
