Fourth-year senior who started more than half of Miami’s contests during his first two seasons, but was allowed last year by an off-season knee surgery…diligent work in the summer of 1988 enables Richardson to enter his final season at 100%…a sharp-shooting big man from within 10 feet who has a smooth touch…has been a dangerous streak scorer throughout his UM career…will challenge for the open center position vacated by the early departure of Tito Horford…joings with Bruce Moore as the two Hurricanes from the state of North Carolina.

As a Junior (1987-88)

Had a very difficult start at the beginning of the campaign due to off-season knee surgery…played in 23 games averaging 7 minutes a contest…scored 12 points (including 5 of 6 from the floor) in Miami’s 96-68 win over Colgate in the first round of the City of Miami Classic…top rebounding effort of 8 came in the Hurricanes’ 104-70 win over American at the Eastern Airlines/Palm Beach Classic…by projecting his playing time to equal that of Horford last season, Richardson’s stats equal out to 11 points and six rebounds per contest.

As a Sophomore (1986-87)

Averaged 16 minutes per game while seeing action in all 31 UM games…wasoneof only three Hurricane players to get in to every game…top overall outing came in Miami’s 78-75 overtime win over Yale…came off the bench vs. the Bulldogs and accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds, while hitting on all seven of his free throw attempts in 22 minutes of play…best scoring game was a 22-point outing (nine of 13 from the field) in Miami’s 102-81 win over Florida International…top rebounding night was a 13-carom evening vs. Armstrong State…collected double figure scoring totals in six games, while grabbing double digits in rounds on two occasions.

As a Freshman (1985-86)

Collected double figure socring totals in 11 of his 18 starts…top outing was a 23-point performace (10-15 FGA, 3-3 FTs) in the Canes’ 81-74 overtime loss to Arizona…Richardson was names CBS’s MVP in that contest with the Wildcats…moved into sixth place on the all-time UM single-season field goal percentage chart with an even 50% mark (123-246)…turned in a hot seven of nine field goal shooting night to spark Miami to an upset over Florida State…hit for 16 points and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds as the Canes surprised the Seminoles in the Knight Center (83-75)…was selected as the coaches’ choice for Most Improved Player following the season…led the team in charges taken with seven…participated in the 1986 U.S. Olympic Sports Festival in Houston, TX as a member of the bronze mesal South team…averaged just under 15 minutes per game for the South while drawing one starting assignment in four games.

High School: Two-year started at center for Northern Nash High School…averaged over 12 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior while also being named the team’s Most Improved Player…was a first-team All-Big East Conference selection as a senior…lettered three years in cross country and one year in track (high jump)…high school coach was Bobby Nunn.
