AT MIAMI: A steady player at strongside linebacker… a stalwart on defense and on special teams throughout his career… a hard-hitting coverage man on the UM special teams unit.

 

2002 (JUNIOR): One of the team’s top special teams coverage players… made 20 tackles, including 12 solo hits… made a career-high four solo tackles at Syracuse… credited with one tackle against Pittsburgh… made two tackles at Tennessee… had one solo tackle at Rutgers, a jarring hit on a kickoff return… made two stops against Connecticut… matched his career high with five tackles (three solos) against Temple… had one stop at Florida… made four tackles (three solos) and intercepted a pass against Florida A&M.

 

2001 (SOPHOMORE): Was one of the team’s most reliable reserves, as well as a pacesetter on special teams coverage units… made 15 tackles, including four for losses totaling 15 yards… played in 10 of 12 games… had a season-high three tackles (one unassisted) against Temple… made two tackles in four different games (at Penn State, at Pittsburgh, vs. Troy State, and vs. Syracuse)… had one stop in games against Rutgers, at Florida State, vs. West Virginia, vs. Washington and at Virginia Tech.

 

2000 (FRESHMAN): Played regularly as a reserve linebacker and was a star on special teams, particularly on kickoff coverage… played in all 12 games and collected 22 tackles (11 solos), including one quarterback sack… had five tackles in the season opener against McNeese State… nabbed four tackles against Washington… had four tackles, a pass deflection and a quarterback hurry against Rutgers… set the tone of the shutout over Syracuse with a crushing tackle on the game’s opening kickoff… garnered his only quarterback sack of the season in the win over Boston College… registered one solo tackle in the 37-20 win over Florida in the 2001 Nokia Sugar Bowl.

 

1999 (REDSHIRT): Spent season as a member of the Hurricanes’ scout team.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Northwestern… SuperPrep All-American and the nation’s No. 15 linebacker… No. 10 linebacker on PrepStar Dream Team Top 100 and No. 3 in the SEC Region… also selected to the Super 30 All-SEC Region by PrepStar… named to the Miami Herald Class 6-5A All-State first-team… Florida’s No. 5 outside linebacker on the Florida Times-Union Super 75… Max Emfinger Dixie Blue Chip… committed to Miami along with older identical twin brother Jermell… helped guide Northwestern to the Florida Class 6A State Title this past fall… named to the Class 6A All-State first-team following his senior year, as well as All-Dade County… totaled 94 tackles and 24 sacks as a senior… timed at 4.5 in the 40… collected 20 sacks as a junior at defensive end… one of three UM 1999 signees from state champion Northwestern… also a standout member of the varsity track team… coached in football by Billy Rolle.
