AT MIAMI: Will battle Derrick Crudup for the backup role at quarterback behind starter Ken Dorsey this season…former non-scholarship player who earned a scholarship in 2000 following the departure of quarterback Kenny Kelly to pro baseball…spent his first season at Miami as a walk-on.

2000 (SOPHOMORE): Saw action in three games (McNeese State, Rutgers and Boston College)…completed one of two passes for 15 yards on the season…lone completion was a 15-yard toss to Michael Stewart against Boston College.

1999 (FRESHMAN): Played in three games… went 2-for-2 passing for 13 yards…threw the final touchdown of the regular season, a nine-yard pass to tight end Ivan Mercer in the fourth quarter against Temple…completed his other pass against Rutgers.

HIGH SCHOOL: Mims…four-year letterman at quarterback…assisted team to city championship each of his four seasons…threw for 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior…team captain…named to Max Emfinger’s Dixie Top 20 QB’s in the South…regarded as one of the top 100 football players in Florida according to Sun State Recruiting…named first-team All-Conference and second-team All-District…named a pre-season Top 5 quarterback by the Orlando Sentinel prior to his senior season…named second-team All-Conference as a junior…threw for 1,048 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior…led team to final eight in the state playoffs as a sophomore…lettered one season on the baseball team…coached by Randy Hallock.
