CAREER: Started 35 games for the Hurricanes at strongside linebacker before moving to middle linebacker during senior season … Played in 49 games in his career (2006-2010), tied for the sixth-most in school history and only three less than all-time leader Brandon Meriweather (2002-06) … Finished his career with 308 tackles, including 165 solo stops … Registered 34 tackles for loss for 118 yards during his career … Two-time All-ACC honoree … Graduated from the University of Miami in December.

2009 (JUNIOR): Ranked second on UM’s defense in total tackles (95) and unassisted tackles (53) … Also ranked second among all Hurricane defenders with 10.5 tackles for a loss … Ranked third among all ACC defenders with a 8.6 tackle per game average in league play … Named to the All-ACC Second Team by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association and after ranking 10th in the league with a 7.2 tackle per game average overall … Also named to Third Team All-ACC by Phil Steele … Recorded double-digit tackles on four occasions, including a career-high tying 13 at Virginia Tech and at North Carolina … Also recorded 11 stops in back-to-back weeks versus Clemson and at Wake Forest … Recorded his second career interception in win over UCF in Orlando … Played in all 13 games and started 10 … Was awarded the Training Room Comeback Player of the Year (along with TE Dedrick Epps) at the team’s annual awards banquet on Dec. 6 … Recorded his only sack of the season in the regular season finale at USF … Tallied a season-high nine solo stops at UNC … Forced a fumble and had a season-high 2.5 tackles for a loss against Clemson … Led the team with 42 assisted stops.

2008 (JUNIOR): Started the first four games against Charleston Southern, Florida, Texas A&M and North Carolina before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury … Tallied 21 tackles (14 solo, seven assisted) … Had a season-high eight tackles (five solo, three assisted) at Florida and also forced a fumble … Added six tackles at Texas A&M … Awarded a medical hardship and has two more seasons of eligibility.

2007 (SOPHOMORE): Earned a starting role at strongside linebacker and ranked fifth on the team with 74 tackles (50 solo) … Led the team with 12 tackles for loss … Added two sacks, three QB pressures, one interception, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, one forced fumble and five pass breakups … Made the first start of his career at strongside linebacker against Marshall and played on 43 downs, tallying nine tackles (six solo), with a sack for minus-three yards … Started at strongside linebacker on 64 plays at Oklahoma, making nine tackles (seven solo), with one tackle for loss … Started at strongside linebacker and played 51 downs, making seven tackles (five solo), adding one QB pressure versus FIU … Started at strongside linebacker against Texas A&M and played 49 snaps, making eight tackles (six solo) and one QB pressure and also made the first interception of his career, returning it 30 yards … At Florida State, started at strongside linebacker and totaled eight tackles (five solo), adding one tackle for loss and a QB pressure … Recovered a fumble and scored on a 27-yard touchdown with 1:04 remaining to clinch a 37-29 come-from-behind victory … Against NC State, started at strongside linebacker and played 66 snaps, making 12 tackles (seven solo), with one sack, two tackles for loss and a pass breakup … At Virginia Tech, started at strongside linebacker and played 43 downs, making six tackles (three solo), with three tackles for loss … At Boston College, started and made two solo tackles, a half tackle for loss, one forced fumble and one pass breakup.

2006 (FRESHMAN): Played in nine games … Stellar special teams player who had the team’s only blocked punt of the season … Team’s backup at strongside linebacker most of the year … Played linebacker in two games … Tied for third on the team with six tackles on special teams … Played on special teams in his first collegiate game in the opener against Florida State … Saw action on four plays as a reserve strongside linebacker vs. Florida A&M, making one assisted tackle … Saw action on 10 plays at strongside linebacker (one solo tackle) against North Carolina … Also played on special teams and blocked a punt that eventually led to a touchdown.

HIGH SCHOOL: All-State linebacker … As a senior in 2005, played linebacker, tight end and wide receiver … Finished senior year with 133 tackles, four sacks, one interception and 25 tackles for loss on defense … On offense, caught 38 passes for 644 yards and seven touchdowns … Played in the CaliFlorida Bowl … As a junior, played linebacker and tight end, making a school-record 163 tackles, five sacks and five interceptions … As a sophomore, played both quarterback and linebacker, passing for 1,300 yards and 11 touchdowns, and on defense making 50 tackles … Started high school in 2002 as a backup freshman quarterback but asked to play defense so he could see some action, ending the season with more than 100 tackles … Rated the No. 24 outside linebacker prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 54 prospect in Florida … Ranked the No. 36 linebacker by Scout.com … Ranked the No. 5 linebacker on the Florida Times-Union Super 75 … Attended the same high school as A.J.
