AT MIAMI: Striving to return to action after a knee injury derailed his 2001 campaign…hopes to contend for playing time, or a starting spot, at one of the safety positions this season…moved to strong safety during the offseason prior to the 2001 season and had a productive Spring practice after moving from linebacker…has shown good instincts and a nose for the ball…has been a solid coverage player on special teams throughout his UM career.

2001 (SOPHOMORE): Played in four of Miami’s first six games as both a reserve strong safety and special teams player before suffering a season-ending knee injury in a 45-3 win over West Virginia on Oct. 25…was injured while defending on kickoff coverage…had six tackles (all unassisted) during the 2001 season…made three solo tackles against both Pittsburgh and Troy State…also played in the victories over Penn State, Florida State and West Virginia.

2000 (FRESHMAN): Played in seven games…battled back from a torn pectoral muscle suffered while weightlifting in July…registered three tackles, all unassisted…made tackles against Louisiana Tech, Pittsburgh and Boston College…saw playing time as a reserve linebacker and on special teams.

1999 (REDSHIRT): Spent the season as a member of the Hurricanes’ scout team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Northwestern…playing defensive end in high school…No. 10 linebacker on PrepStar Dream Team Top 100 and No. 3 in the SEC Region…also selected to the Super 30 All-SEC Region by PrepStar…SuperPrep’s No. 43 player in Florida…named to the Miami Herald Class 6-5A All-State first-team…Florida’s #6 outside linebacker on Florida Times-Union Super 75…committed to Miami along with his younger identical twin brother Jarrell…helped guide Northwestern to the Florida Class 6A State title this past fall…named to the Class 6A All-State first-team following his senior year, as well as All-Dade County…led team with 110 tackles, 26 sacks, five fumble recoveries and returned one fumble for a score…timed at 4.5 in the 40…collected 15 sacks during his junior year at defensive end…one of three UM 1999 signees from state champion Northwestern…coached in football by Billy Rolle.
