AT MIAMI: Played extensively last season at left guard… good pass protector with good feet and quickness… recovering from stenosis, which caused him to miss action late in 2002… could be primed to make an impact in his senior season.

 

2002 (JUNIOR): Saw action in seven games during Miami’s march to the national championship game… was held out of action for much of the last half of the season because of stenosis… all of his playing time came as a reserve offensive lineman.

 

2001 (SOPHOMORE): Saw action in seven games during Miami’s march to the National Championship… all his playing time came as a reserve offensive lineman.

 

2000 (FRESHMAN): Played in four games as a backup offensive lineman… saw increased playing time as the season went on… played extensively against Syracuse and Boston College.

 

1999 (REDSHIRT): Spent season as a member of the Hurricanes’ scout team.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Vanir… was a three-year starter at offensive tackle… served as team captain during junior and senior seasons… regarded as the No. 2 lineman in Canada upon high school graduation… named to the All-Canadian team by the National newspaper of Canada…coached by his father, Joe Sr., in high school… also played two seasons of varsity basketball, where he assisted his team to the city championship as a senior.

 

PERSONAL: Son of Joseph, Sr. and Vicki McGrath… chose Miami over Wake Forest, Utah and Wyoming.
