Former Hurricane, Melissa Dagenais, Selected to Team Canada for 2026 FIFA Series
CORAL GABLES, Fla.– After playing for Miami from 2019 to 2023, goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais has made the National Canadian women’s soccer team roster as the squad gears up to play in the 2026 FIFA Series from Apr. 9-18.
Originally from Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Dagenais made the All-Academic team three consecutive years with multiple ACC Defender of the Week honors during her time at Miami.
The Canadian goalkeeper is ranked third all-time in saves for the Hurricanes with 262 over her collegiate career.
After graduating in 2023, Dagenais signed her first professional contract with Portuguese club, Damaienese, in 2024 before joining her current club Ottawa Rapid FC in 2025.
Dagenais has now been called up to the Canadian roster twice, first making the national team in 2023 as a graduate student at Miami.
The 2026 FIFA Series is set to take place across three different nations in its inaugural edition and will feature teams from four different continental confederations.
South Korea, Zambia, Canada, and host nation Brazil will all face off against each other as part of the FIFA Series Brazil, a subsection of the broader event.
Team Canada is slated to first matchup against Zambia at Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, Brazil on Apr. 11. The initial game is set to kickoff at 3:00 p.m. ET.
