Miami Falls at Florida State, 3-0
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team faced a tough Florida State on Friday evening, ultimately falling 3-0 at Seminole Soccer Complex.
“Overall I am disappointed for our team tonight. We made some adjustments and I felt the players set a more aggressive tone in the second half,” head coach Ken Masuhr said. “I’m looking forward to our next four matches at home in Cobb Stadium, and I hope our fans show out for us next Saturday against Syracuse.”
The Seminoles took an early lead over Miami with a goal in the 11th minute from Solai Washington. FSU struck again in the 28th minute, this time courtesy of Nyanya Touray, before Jordynn Dudley scored the Seminoles’ third and final goal ahead of the half.
The Hurricanes’ defense came out strong in the second half with Atlee Olofson in net. After falling behind by three, Miami shut down FSU’s offense for the remainder of the match.
Miami registered three shots in the contest, evenly split between Teegan Melenhorst, Brie Severns, and Allie Serlenga.
Emily Bredek and Olofson split time in net, with Bredek posting six saves and Olofson recording five.
Miami returns to action next Saturday as the Hurricanes host Syracuse. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
