Hurricanes Battle to 2-2 Draw Against Princeton

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team earned a 2-2 draw Thursday night as it battled Princeton at Cobb Stadium.

“We are disappointed to leave two points on the table but I was pleased to see us continue scoring goals at home,” head coach Ken Masuhr said. “We will have our work cut out for us as we host our last non-conference home opponent on Sunday before ACC play begins. I’m looking forward to a great crowd on hand for the matchup against FIU.”

Miami (4-1-1) struck early in the sixth minute when Emilie Simpson calmly converted her penalty, placing the shot into the bottom left corner.

In the 18th minute, Ciara Alarcon doubled Miami’s lead with a left-footed shot from a pass from Caroline Hood.

Princeton (0-2-3) battled back in the second half as Nina Cantor slotted home the Tigers’ first goal in the 60th minute.

The Tigers tied the game in the 82nd minute on a goal from Pia Beaulieu.

Emily Bredek started the game in net and registered four saves in the first half. Atlee Olofson recorded four saves in the second stanza.

Miami closes out its five-match homestand against FIU on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
