Arroyo Selected in Second Round by Seahawks

GREEN BAY, Wisc. – University of Miami tight end Elijah Arroyo became the second Hurricane off the board when he was selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks Friday night.

Arroyo joined QB Cam Ward, who was selected first overall by the Tennessee Titans Thursday night, as Miami draftees through the first two rounds. Arroyo was taken with the 50th overall selection.

A second-team All-ACC honoree in his final season with the Hurricanes in 2024, Arroyo served as one of team’s top offensive contributors, starting all 13 games at tight end.

The Independence, Texas native ranked fifth on team in catches (35), fourth on the team in receiving yards (590) and third in touchdown catches (7) as a key member of the nation’s most explosive offense. Arroyo added to Miami’s legacy of “Tight End U,” becoming the 15th Hurricanes tight end selected since 2000 and the first since Will Mallory by the Indianapolis Colts in 2023.

For his career, Arroyo – who missed nearly all of the 2022 and 2023 seasons with injuries – finished with 46 catches, 753 yards and eight touchdowns. Arroyo delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl after a dominant final season with Miami, where he was a candidate for the Mackey Award honoring the nation’s top tight end.

The NFL Draft continues through Saturday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
