Miami Secures 4-1 Victory Over South Alabama

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 29 University of Miami men’s tennis team (8-2) took down the South Alabama Jaguars (3-8), 4-1, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite losing the doubles point, the Hurricanes bounced back to prove dominance on four straight courts for the victory.

South Alabama’s Victor Frumholz and Harold van Raemdonck secured court three, 6-1, over Mehdi Sadaoui and Jules Garot, before Miami’s Martin Katz and Antonio Prat took the top court, 6-4, against Romeo Hadzimehmedovi and Juan Accossatto.

Coming down to the last court for the opening point, Nacho Serra Sanchez and Leonardo Dal Boni battled Braden Hanning and Javier Montoya on court two. The Jaguars forced it to a tiebreaker and won 7-6 (5) to give the edge to South Alabama entering singles.

Prat took court two against Hannig, 6-2, 6-3, to tie the match, directly followed by Garot earning the dominant 6-0, 6-4 win over Frumholz at the No. 6 spot. Sanchez then grabbed the 6-3, 6-2 win over Hadzimehmedovi to extend the lead before No. 42 Katz clinched it with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the top court over Montoya.

The Hurricanes will fly to California to face Stanford and Cal, March 7 and 9, respectively.
