Ward Recognized on Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — For the third time this year, University of Miami senior Cam Ward earned a spot on the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8, the organization announced Monday.
Ward and the Hurricanes made history at California on Saturday, as Miami mounted its second-largest comeback win in program history, climbing out of a 25-point hole to win, 39-38.
The 6-foot-2, 223-pound quarterback led the Hurricanes to four straight touchdowns over the final 18 minutes to overcome the 35-10 deficit.
Ward threw for a season-best 437 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a score on the ground.
For the West Columbia, Texas, native, he was previously named one of the award’s weekly honorees on Sept. 4 and Sept. 23.
