CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami Hurricanes senior Cam Ward was selected as the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, the foundation announced Wednesday.
In his first appearance at Miami, Ward guided the Hurricanes to a 41-17 win on the road over rival Florida.
The 6-foot-2, 223-pound signal caller became the first quarterback to throw for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns in his Miami debut since at least 1979.
Ward accounted for 418 total yards, finishing 26-of-35 for 385 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
The West Columbia, Texas, native helped the Hurricanes amass 529 yards of offense, the most by a Miami team against an SEC opponent since 1981.
For Ward, he was also tabbed the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and the Maxwell Award National Award Player of the Week.
