23 Hurricanes Qualify for NCAA East Preliminary Round in Lexington

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – 23 athletes of the Miami track and field team have been selected to compete in the NCAA East Regional meet in Lexington next week, the NCAA announced Thursday afternoon.

The NCAA East Preliminary round, which will take place at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, contains qualifiers with the top-48 marks in the nation, following withdrawal or injury.

Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective event earn a berth into the NCAA East and West First Rounds. In addition, the best 24 relays times advance to the NCAA preliminaries. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West First Rounds sites will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 5-8.

Decathlon athlete Edgar Campre has already qualified for the the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June based on his outdoor performances this season.
