Campre Delivers Strong Performance After Day One of Decathlon
WALNUT, Calif. – University of Miami track and field multi athlete Edgar Campre registered three new personal bests during day one of the 64th annual Mt. SAC Relays’ decathlon competition.
Making his 2024 decathlon debut, Campre stands fifth with 4190 points after day one — a lifetime best.
Campre, the 2024 indoor ACC Champion and school record holder in men’s heptathlon, started Wednesday’s competition with a personal best time of 10.60 in the 100m, earning third and 952 points.
The Hurricanes’ multi athlete then leaped 7.13m in the long jump for 845 points, threw a 14.69m shot put for 771 points, jumped 1.92m in the high jump for a new personal best and 731 points, and clocked 48.38 in the 400m for 891 points — registering his third personal best on the day.
The Lisbon, Portugal, native will look to continue his strong performance Thursday at 1 p.m. eastern time — starting with the 110m hurdles.
University of Miami alumnus, 2019 indoor pentathlon national champion, and Miami’s volunteer coach Michelle Atherley stands on top of the day one leader board in the women’s heptathlon elite division.
Atherley earned an impressive 3825 points against some of the nation’s best heptathletes.
