Balzert/Schuknecht Repeat As ACC Doubles Team of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami women’s tennis pair of Antonia Balzert and Leonie Schuknecht were named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Balzert and Schuknecht earned their highest ranked win of the season after taking down NC State’s No. 11 Anna Zyryanova and Sophie Abrams, 6-3, on court two, before clinching the doubles point against Wake Forest, 6-2, over Krystal Blanch and Casie Wooten.

After the weekend, the pair is now 6-5 in dual matches and 2-0 against ranked opponents.

The accolade marks the Hurricanes’ third ACC honor of the season, after Alexa Noel notched ACC Player of the Week (Feb. 6) and Balzert and Schuknecht earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week (Mar. 12).

The Hurricanes will finish out the regular season on the roading, traveling to Virginia and Virginia Tech on April 12 and 14, respectively.
