Hurricanes Take 4-1 Win Against UTSA
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team secured its seventh win of the season with a 4-1 victory against UTSA on Friday night.
The match started tight, with the doubles point coming down to the last court. The No. 27 pair of Vladislav Melnic and Adrien Burdet took down No. 29 Alan Magadan and Tomas Pinho, 6-4, at the top court. UTSA bounced back on court three, with Garrett Skelly and Jackson Ross defeating Martin Katz and Antonio Prat, 6-4.
On court two, Nacho Serra Sanchez and Sam Baumgartner secured the opening point with a 6-4 win over Tiago Torres and Miguel Alonso.
Going into singles with the advantage, Miami took the first two courts. On court three, Prat claimed the win over 6-0, 6-3, while Baumgartner took down Alonso, 6-0, 6-3, on court six.
UTSA got on the board after Torres routed Katz on court two, 7-3, 7-6 (8).
To clinch the win, Melnic battled to three sets against Magadan, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5, to win the match for Miami.
When play was halted, Burdet was up 4-6, 6-2, 5-0, to Skelly on court five and Serra Sanchez was tied 6-1, 4-6, 2-2 with Muminovic on court four.
The Hurricanes will return to action on Feb. 25 when they host VCU.
