MBB Places No. 23/21 Nationally
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami is in the top 25 of both major polls for the eighth straight week, as announced Monday afternoon.
Miami (16-5, 7-4 ACC) checks in at No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and holds the No. 21 spot in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The Hurricanes dropped three spots in the former poll and two in the latter after going 1-1 in a pair of ACC road games last week. They logged a dominant 86-63 triumph Tuesday night at Florida State and then dropped a narrow 71-68 decision Saturday evening at Pittsburgh.
Each of Miami’s last three setbacks, on consecutive Saturdays, have come by just one possession on the road in a Quad 1 contest.
Miami is among three ACC teams in the top 25, joining No. 6/4 Virginia and No. 20/19 Clemson. Four other ACC programs—Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Pittsburgh—are receiving votes in both polls.
The Hurricanes resume play Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Virginia Tech, live on ESPNU from the Watsco Center.
