Canes Get First Tournament Under Their Belt

AUBURN, Ala. – The Miami men’s tennis team concluded play at the Auburn Invitational Sunday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

Graduate student Dan Martin underscored the Canes’ doubles effort going 2-0 on the weekend, with an 8-6 win over the pair from Clemson alongside freshman Ilarion Danilchenko and an 8-4 victory over Vanderbilt’s top doubles pair with partner Franco Aubone.

In singles action, fourth-year junior Oren posted a 2-1 record over the weekend. Vasser defeated Maxwell Smith (6-1, 6-1) from Clemson on Friday, before rallying from down a set to take a three-set victory over Auburn’s Raul Dobaí (6-7, 6-4, 6-3) on Saturday.

The Canes have a break in fall action until October 8-10 when part of the team will travel to the Bedford Cup in Tallahassee, Fla., while the other players will take part in the ITF M15 Naples in Naples, Fla.
