Canes Compete at USA Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Three Miami track and field athletes competed on the first day of the 2021 USA Olympic Trials at Hayward Field.

Debbie Ajagbe and Zakiya Rashid experienced the new Oregon stadium competing in the women’s discus. Ajagbe closed out her junior season finishing just outside the top qualifying marks for Saturday’s final in 13^th-place with a mark of 55.43m. Rashid competed for her final time in a Canes uniform and finished 15^th with a mark of 55.10m.

Alfreda Steele returned to the track after her All-America performances at NCAAs and ran the 100m dash in 10.37 seconds. Steele will return to the track on June 24^th for the 200m semifinals.
