Swimming Posts Nine Lifetime Bests at First Chance

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami women’s swimming team combined to post nine lifetime bests out of 13 possible swims in the First Chance Meet at the Norman Whitten Pool.

Among the highlights on the afternoon were freshman Emma Sundstrand moving past accomplished junior Zorry Mason into second place in program history in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.31.

Sophomore Andrea Todorovic moved into the top 10 in Miami history in the 100-yard backstroke to add to the Hurricanes’ impressive day. Todorovic’s time of 55.89 was the ninth-fastest in program history.

Not to be outdone, senior Chandler Sensibaugh had one of the day’s most inspiring performances by shaving three seconds off her lifetime best in the 200-yard breaststroke in her final home competition at The U. Sensibaugh touched the wall in a time of 2:16.03.

The Hurricanes will finish up final preparations before traveling to the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., from Feb. 17-20.
