Nazieblo Joins Staff As Assistant Coach

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes head swimming coach Andy Kershaw announced the hiring of Klaudia Nazieblo as assistant swimming coach Thursday.

Nazieblo arrives in Coral Gables from her alma mater Virginia Tech, where she was one of the most decorated swimmers in program history before joining the Hokies’ coaching staff beginning in 2021.

“I am absolutely thrilled and honored to be joining the Hurricanes Family,” Nazieblo said. “From my very first conversation with Coach Kershaw, I knew this was a program I wanted to be a part of.

“I resonated deeply with his genuine passion and his holistic philosophy of developing the whole athlete, rather than treating them as a number on a scoreboard. This is a vision to which I am completely committed.”

A native of Poland, Nazieblo competed for the Hokies from 2014 through 2018 before transitioning to the role of assistant coach. She left a lasting legacy in Blacksburg, where she served on the Hokies staff while competing in the International Swimming League (ISL).

“Klaudia brings a wealth of elite experience coaching and swimming, both in the ACC and internationally,” Kershaw said. “That experience will be put to use in many ways and will help us to continue to elevate our program.”

Nazieblo earned seven All-America Honorable Mention recognitions and one NCAA First-Team All-America honor during her standout undergraduate career, setting a number of school records in the process.

On the international stage, she is a multi-time Polish national record-holder and a mainstay on the Poland National Team. She has represented her country at the FINA World Championships, European Championships and Youth Olympic Games.

“During my visit, I was completely blown away by how dedicated and cohesive the entire support staff is, and I’m so excited to help continue the incredible momentum the team has built over the years,” Nazieblo said.

A multi-time Junior European Championship medalist, Nazieblo also excelled at the World University Games, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter butterfly in Taipei.

Nazieblo joins Kershaw and Liberty Williams on the Miami Hurricanes’ coaching staff.

“Klaudia has a lot of great ideas, and we’re excited to give her a chance to put those to use to benefit our student-athletes,” Kershaw said. “We now have two of the top young female coaches in NCAA Swimming – something our industry needs to continue to support.”

The Hurricanes will increase the responsibilities of Williams, who enters her second year with the program.

“Liberty has done amazing work for us right out of the gates,” Kershaw said. “It’s amazing how naturally she wove herself into the profession and our staff. Her loyalty and integrity are unmatched, which are two must-haves in any quality assistant.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to elevate her role in the program and watch her develop as a coach.”

Kershaw is excited about the addition of Nazieblo to a program that continues its ascent towards the top of the NCAA.

“Klaudia will not only be given the opportunity to make an impact on our swimmers in the pool, but will also be given the chance to invest in them as students and as people,” he said. “With our team’s low swimmer-to-coach ratio, all of our coaches have a unique chance to coach our entire team in an immersive way. We are looking forward to seeing Klaudia shine in this dynamic.”

Nazieblo moves to Miami with her husband, Mauro – a former standout diver at Virginia Tech – and their 11-month-old daughter, Laura. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2018 with a degree in economics and a minor in business leadership and communication.

“Leaving my alma mater after giving so much to the program, as both an athlete and a coach, wasn’t an easy decision, but in order to continue my own professional development, it was time to spread my wings,” Nazieblo said. “Miami offers the perfect environment for that growth.

“My family and I cannot wait to get to South Florida, meet the team and get to work on the deck. I’m ready to help bring in the missing puzzle pieces to strengthen this roster on the national stage. It’s all about The U!”
