W. Tennis Sets 2021 Schedule
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head women’s tennis head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Thursday her program’s schedule for the upcoming spring season.
The Hurricanes will play 19 matches in the regular season, including 13 against ACC foes. Miami’s schedule features eight home affairs, 10 road contests and one neutral-site matchup.
Nine of the matches are against teams in the ITA’s preseason top 20, with five versus opponents in the top 10.
“Our schedule is one of the toughest in the country,” Yaroshuk-Tews said. “We’re looking forward to beginning our season. We’ve got competitive opponents right off the bat and we are excited to jump in.”
The Hurricanes open the season in just two days when they head to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on Florida Atlantic (Jan. 23, noon).
After meeting the Owls, Miami heads to Nashville, Tenn., for a pair of contests against SEC opponents. First, it plays Ole Miss (Jan. 29, 1 p.m.) and then takes on homestanding No. 15 Vanderbilt (Jan. 30, noon) the next day.
The Hurricanes’ final outing before ACC play is at UCF (Feb. 13, noon) in Orlando, Fla. They then open league action with back-to-back road matchups at No. 12 Georgia Tech (Feb. 20, time TBD) in Atlanta and at Clemson (Feb. 21, time TBD) in Clemson, S.C.
Miami finally begins its home slate on the final weekend of February with contests versus No. 16 Wake Forest (Feb. 26, noon) and eighth-ranked NC State (Feb. 28, noon).
After that, Yaroshuk-Tews’ team hits the road to play a pair of top-10 teams on consecutive days, first meeting top-ranked North Carolina (March 6, noon) in Chapel Hill, N.C., and then sixth-ranked Duke (March 7, noon) in Durham, N.C.
The Hurricanes then continue ACC play with matches at Syracuse (March 12, time TBD) in Syracuse, N.Y., and at Boston College (March 14, time TBD) in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Up next for Miami is a five-match homestand that begins with USF (March 17, 11 a.m.) and is followed by four consecutive ACC tilts.
The first of those is against Notre Dame (March 19, noon) and the second is versus Louisville (March 21, noon). Miami wraps up its ACC home schedule by hosting Virginia Tech (April 2, noon) and No. 10 Virginia (April 4, noon).
Yaroshuk-Tews, in her 20th season a head coach, then takes her team to Tallahassee, Fla., to conclude league competition at ninth-ranked Florida State (April 9, time TBD) before finishing the regular season at home against Florida Atlantic (April 16, 2 p.m.).
The ACC Tennis Championship is set to take place April 21-25 at Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
