Roche Named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Veteran Quincy Roche was recognized for an outstanding performance Saturday versus Duke with Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday.
The defensive end showed no rust after a lengthy layoff, recording one of the most dominant efforts by a Miami lineman this season. To go along with his six total tackles and three tackles for loss, Roche finished with 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, as he wore the Turnover Chain for the third time this season.
The ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honor was the second this season for Roche, who is the FBS’ active leader in career sacks (30.0) and tackles for loss (53.5). Miami has had at least one player honored after each of its games this season.
The Hurricanes (8-1, 7-1 ACC) next host No. 20/20 North Carolina (7-3, 6-3 ACC) in a matchup at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Dec. 12. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
