W. Tennis Heads to Louisville
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team will conclude February competition Friday afternoon in Louisville, Ky.
No. 18 Miami (5-4, 2-2 ACC) is set to square off with Louisville at 1 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Live video for the match will be available HERE, while live stats can be found HERE.
The Hurricanes own a 5-0 all-time mark against the Cardinals, with each match coming since 2015 when Louisville joined the ACC.
Miami, which is 3-0 on the road in the series, has outscored the Cardinals by a 30-5 margin, posting two shutouts. In the most recent matchup between the two sides, the Hurricanes registered a 7-0 home victory on April 11, 2019.
Entering the match, Miami has three ranked singles players, with Estela Perez-Somarriba leading the way as the top-ranked individual in the nation. Sophomore Daevenia Achong checks in at a career-best No. 72, while freshman Selma Cadar is No. 96 on the list.
In doubles, 19th-year head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews has one ranked pair, as Achong and Cadar hold the No. 59 spot.
The Cardinals are 8-2 (0-1 ACC) on the season with four shutout victories, each of which came in January. Louisville does not have any ranked players or doubles pairs.
Following its contest against the Cardinals, Miami has 13 days without a match before hosting No. 35 Yale March 13 at 10 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
