This is the first time Miami will begin a season with a league game and the first time it will open with a major conference foe since 1987, which is also when it last started with a top-25 team (ninth-ranked Michigan).

Wednesday, the Hurricanes started the season with an 86-65 exhibition victory over Flagler at the Watsco Center. Redshirt junior guard Kameron McGusty paced all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while redshirt junior center Rodney Miller finished with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Senior guard Dejan Vasiljevic (12), freshman guard Isaiah Wong (12) and freshman guard Harlond Beverly (10) all reached double figures, as well, as Miami shot 50.0 percent (35-of-70) and totaled 52 paint points.
Louisville topped Bellarmine, 75-65, Tuesday night in its exhibition affair at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals, who went 20-14 (10-8 ACC) and reached the NCAA Tournament last year, were picked third in the ACC preseason poll.
Junior forward Jordan Nwora, the reigning ACC Most Improved Player, is the league’s leading returning scorer at 17.0 points per game, just ahead of Miami junior guard Chris Lykes’ 16.2 average. Nwora garnered Preseason ACC Player of the Year and AP Preseason All-America accolades.
After taking on the Cardinals, Miami meets Florida Atlantic Friday at 7 p.m., live on RSN, in a South Florida showdown at the Watsco Center.
