Hurricanes Set to Compete in Georgia

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will resume fall action on Friday, when a quartet of Hurricanes open the weekend at the 52nd Annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
 
Play will begin with doubles competition at 8:30 a.m., when junior Benjamin Hannestad and sophomore Franco Aubone battle Chih Chi Huang and Cleeve Harper from Texas in the Red Doubles Draw.
 
In the Black Doubles Draw, senior Stephen Madonia and junior William Grattan-Smith have earned a first-round bye and will await the winner of the opening round match between Texas’ Jacob Bullard and Evin McDonald and Florida’s Lukas Grief and Josh Goodger.
 
Second round action will then follow immediately after courts become available.
 
In the afternoon, singles play is set to get under way with four Compass Draws opening in the Round of 16.
 
Competing in the Silver Singles Draw, Aubone battle Texas’ Nevin Arimilli at 1:30 p.m.
 
A trio of Canes will then open up action in the White Singles Draw, when Hannestad battles Keshav Chopra of Georgia Tech, Madonia takes on the Yellow Jackets’ Chris Yun and Grattan-Smith faces Georgia’s Sam Dromsky.
 
Saturday will then open up with Doubles semifinal action at 8 a.m, while championship Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m.
