The junior from Madrid is officially a member of the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team, as announced Friday afternoon.
Featuring the most accomplished players in the country from the 2018-19 season across all levels, the Division I list includes the NCAA singles finalists, NCAA doubles finalists, the top-ranked singles player and both the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships singles and doubles champions.
Joining Perez-Somarriba on the team are UCLA’s Gabby Andrews, UCLA’s Ayan Broomfield, Michigan’s Kate Fahey, Georgia’s Katarina Jokic, Clemson’s Marie-Alexandre Leduc, Michigan’s Brienne Minor and Clemson’s Fernanda Navarro. Perez-Somarriba and Jokic were the only players to make the cut in singles.
Perez-Somarriba is the fourth Hurricane to make the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team since Paige Yaroshuk-Tews took over as head coach in 2001-02. She joins Audra Cohen (2006, 2007), Melissa Applebaum (2006) and Megan Bradley (2005).
The two-time reigning ACC Player of the Year claimed the second NCAA Singles Championship crown in program history and ended the season ranked second nationally.
Perez-Somarriba, who earned ITA All-America honors for the third year in a row and won the Honda Sport Award for Tennis, went 43-5 in singles play to lead the country in victories. Her ledger included a 28-4 mark against ranked foes and a 24-1 tally at the top position.
