WBB to Host Indiana in Big Ten/ACC Challenge
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will face Indiana at the Watsco Center in the 2019 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, as announced Tuesday morning by the conference office.
The Hurricanes are set to host the Hoosiers Dec. 4. The game time and TV designation will be released at a later point.
Indiana posted a 21-13 (8-10 B1G) record in 2018-19 and, like Miami, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It is one of five matchups in the challenge between teams that won an NCAA game last year.
The Hoosiers, also like Miami, have logged 21-plus victories in each of the past four seasons. They are 88-50 during that stretch and won the WNIT title in 2017-18.
Over the last six seasons, Miami and Indiana have combined for 11 postseason berths, 10 20-win campaigns and seven NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Hurricanes, coming off a stellar 25-9 (12-4 ACC) showing in 2018-19, own a 6-4 all-time record in Big Ten/ACC Challenge play. That includes a 6-2 ledger over the past eight seasons and a 4-1 mark in the past five. Meanwhile, Indiana sports a 7-5 record in the event after going 5-2 the last seven years.
Miami is 2-1 in its series with Indiana, which dates back to 2006, including 1-1 on its home court. In the most recent contest, the Hurricanes earned an 89-75 victory in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 20, 2015.
Overall, the ACC is 89-61 dating back to the first ACC/Big Ten Challenge in 2007, owning a 9-0-3 overall yearly record with at least six wins every season.
