Hof Signs with Perfumerias Avenida

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Former University of Miami women’s basketball standout Emese Hof will begin her overseas professional career with Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca, Spain.

The team has played in the championship series of Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, Spain’s top tier of basketball, in each of the past 14 years and claimed six titles, including three of the past four.

In addition, Perfumerias Avenida competes in the prestigious EuroLeauge, which features the continent’s top teams.

“I’m very excited to start my professional career in Spain,” Hof said. “It’s a great league and I’m looking forward to playing with and against great players to keep growing. Also, it’s a plus that it’s a bit closer to home.”

Hof opened her professional career with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. She is one of 12 players in Miami history to ink a WNBA contract.

A 6-foot-3 forward/center, Hof holds Miami’s career (54.9) and single-season (58.6) field goal percentage records. The latter mark came this past season, when she garnered First Team All-ACC, All-ACC Defensive Team, ACC Most Improved Player and WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team Honorable Mention recognition.

Hof, who hails from Utrecht, Netherlands, is the lone four-time All-ACC Academic Team selection in program history. She finished her stellar Miami career second all-time in blocked shots (182), tied for ninth in games played (127), No. 10 in rebounding (748) and No. 17 in scoring (1,229).
