W. Tennis Caps Season at No. 20 in Oracle/ITA Rankings

CORAL GABLES, Fla. For the 17th year in a row, the University of Miami women’s tennis team ended the season in the top 25 of the Oracle/ITA rankings.

The Hurricanes closed the 2019 campaign at No. 20 nationally, as announced Wednesday afternoon. The number is just a one-spot drop from the May 1 release prior to the NCAA Team Championship.

This is the 15th time in the last 16 seasons head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews has guided the Hurricanes to a top-20 finish.

Miami posted a 19-8 (9-5 ACC) record, reached the NCAA Team Championship for the 24th year in a row and advanced to the second round of the tournament for the 18th straight season.

The Hurricanes are one of seven ACC teams in the final top 25, alongside third-ranked North Carolina, fourth-ranked Duke, No. 11 NC State, No. 14 Florida State, No. 21 Virginia and No. 23 Wake Forest.

Five other ACC teams earned year-end rankings, with four placing in the top 50: Syracuse at No. 31, Georgia Tech at No. 35, Boston College at No. 43, Notre Dame at No. 47 and Clemson at No. 68.

Final singles and doubles rankings will be released May 29, after the conclusion of the NCAA individual championship, while regional rankings come out June 5.
