GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Miami Hurricanes diving program swept the Atlantic Coast Conference year-end awards, capturing every ACC diving honor for the 2018-19 season, the conference office announced Friday.
Head coach Randy Ableman was named both ACC Men’s Diving Coach of the Year and ACC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year, redshirt senior Briadam Herrera was named ACC Men’s Diver of the Year and redshirt sophomore Alicia Blagg was named ACC Women’s Diver of the Year.
Ableman, who repeated as ACC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year, led four divers to a combined six All-America honors and five ACC gold medals this spring. The award marked the third straight year with at least one conference honor for Ableman, who was named 2017 ACC Men’s Diving Coach of the Year.
Blagg was an Honorable Mention All-America on the 1-meter springboard and finished third nationally on the 3-meter springboard in mid-March to capture the first All-America honors of her career. The Great Britain native also took home gold medals in both springboard events at the 2019 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
Herrera captured All-America honors in both springboard events, including a national runner-up performance on the 3-meter springboard in Austin, Texas, at the 2019 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. Herrera also dominated at the ACC Championships, sweeping the springboard in men’s diving action.
Miami’s platform pair of redshirt junior David Dinsmore and sophomore Zach Cooper were both All-Americans on the 10-meter at the NCAA Championships, including a national runner-up performance from Dinsmore. Both Dinsmore (gold) and Cooper (silver) made podium trips at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, with Dinsmore earning his third straight ACC gold medal on the platform.
The conference award was the first for Blagg and second for Herrera, who was named 2017 ACC Men’s Diver of the Year.
