Herrera Earns Sixth Career All-America Honor

AUSTIN, Texas — University of Miami redshirt senior Briadam Herrera picked up the sixth All-America honor of his illustrious career Thursday night, taking sixth nationally in the 1-meter at the 2019 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

Herrera, who qualified for the finals with a top-three finish during the morning’s preliminary rounds, finished with 358.25 points at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the University of Texas campus.

Matched up against a talented field of eight competitors in the night’s finals, Herrera added to a trophy case that now includes six ACC gold medals, six All-America honors and several international awards.

The All-America recognition was the third earned by a Hurricane this season; sophomore Alicia Blagg was an Honorable Mention All-America in the 1-meter and an All-America in the 3-meter at last week’s NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

Herrera will compete in the 3-meter springboard Friday, while redshirt junior David Dinsmore and sophomore Zach Cooper will take part in the platform on Saturday.
