Men’s Tennis Skyrockets into Top 25
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the latest computer-generated edition of the 2019 Oracle/ITA national rankings list, the University of Miami men’s tennis team jumped up 13 spots and checks in at No. 23 in the country, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the ITA.
After extending its win streak to six matches, Miami (14-4, 5-0 ACC) has garnered its highest national ranking since Jan. 26, 2010, when Miami placed No. 20. It is the first time the Hurricanes have cracked the top 25 since April 27, 2011.
Competing in five matches since the last team rankings were released on March 12, the Hurricanes went a perfect 5-0, including a 4-3 triumph over then-No. 11 Notre Dame, the program’s first victory over a top-15 opponent since defeating No. 14 Duke on April 16, 2010.
Overall, the Canes are one of eight ACC teams in the rankings this week, including second-ranked Wake Forest, fifth-ranked Virginia, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 14 Notre Dame, No. 27 Florida State, No. 30 NC State and No. 44 Georgia Tech.
Individually, a pair of Canes sit among the top 100 in singles, with sophomore Adria Soriano Barrera ranking No. 27 and sophomore Bojan Jankulovski coming it at No. 81.
