Name: Symone Mason

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: Miami, Fla.

Q&A:
Q: Which do you prefer, indoor or outdoor season?
A: Outdoor. Being from Florida, we didn’t grow up running indoors so I don’t think it’s something I’ll get too used to.

Q: What’s your favorite event to run?
A: The 200m

Q: What was your favorite memory as a Cane?
A: Watching our team come together to win last year’s ACC Outdoor Championships and win this year’s indoor Championships.

Q: What is your favorite track to run on?
A: Of course our home track and also Virginia Techs’s.

Q: What does it mean to compete in your first Indoor National Championship?
A: It means a lot because it’s every athlete’s goal to make it to Nationals. I also feel like the atmosphere will be different than outdoors since everyone is closer together and under the same roof.

Q: How does it feel to have already won two ACC titles as a sophomore?
A: It’s an exciting feeling and just makes me want to work harder for another one. Hopefully we can continue to build off of them.

Q: What’s your favorite part about competing on a National level?
A: You’ve worked all year to get your name on the top spots on the rankings list and now, here you are lining up with the best.

Q: What are your goals for outdoor season?
A: To execute all my races. If I do that, fast times are sure to follow.

Q: Who do you look up to in track?
A: Allyson Felix
