Miami Rises to No. 29 in ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the latest computer-generated edition of the 2019 Oracle/ITA national rankings list, the University of Miami men’s tennis team jumped up six spots and checks in at No. 29 in the country, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the ITA.
Following a perfect 2-0 start in ACC competition, the Hurricanes (8-3, 2-0 ACC) have garnered their highest national ranking since May 30, 2011, when Miami placed No. 27.
In Friday’s ACC opener, the Hurricanes topped Georgia Tech, 6-1, to begin conference action with a win for the first time since the spring of 2011.
Two days later, Miami swept Clemson, 7-0, ending a seven-match skid in the all-time series against the Tigers.
Overall, the Canes are one of eight ACC teams in the rankings this week, including second-ranked Wake Forest, fourth-ranked Virginia, sixth-ranked North Carolina, No. 13 Notre Dame, No. 21 Florida State, No. 33 NC State and No. 37 Louisville.
The Hurricanes resume play Sunday at 5 p.m. to take part in Tennis Channel College Match Day against UCF in Orlando.
