McMinn Earns Track Performer of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami’s Tiara McMinn was named ACC Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

McMinn turned in the sixth fastest 60m hurdles time in the NCAA this past weekend, winning the event at the stacked Clemson Tiger Paw Invite with a personal best time of 8.06 seconds. The sophomore has won the event three times this season, after posting an ACC-leading time and the third-fastest time in program history.

“Tiara’s continued to get better each week, which is what we strive to do and is running with a lot more confidence and poise,” head coach Amy Deem said. “That race was an indication of her believing she is one of the best. I see her just getting better and better as the season goes on.”

Along with her first-place finish in the hurdles, McMinn went on to record another personal best time in the 200m dash, registering a time of 23.92 seconds to finish fourth in a field of 44. The Miami NATIVE has recorded personal best finishes in her last three events.

McMinn is the second Hurricane to earn the ACC Performer of the Week honor this indoor season, AS Michelle Atherley earned the accolade on Jan. 30.

The Canes are off from competition for the first time in three weekends, but will return to Blacksburg, Va., Feb. 21–23 for the ACC Indoor Championships.
