Caudery Advances to Pole Vault Final at World U20s
TAMPERE, Finland – University of Miami incoming freshman Molly Caudery qualified for the women’s pole vault final at the IAAF World U20 Championships Wednesday afternoon.
Caudery is set to compete in a field of 12 competitors in the final on Thursday at 11:20 a.m. ET. A native of Great Britain, Caudery advanced to the finals with a mark of 4.20m on Tuesday. The incoming freshman cleared a personal-best mark of 4.53m just three weeks before the Championships and entered today’s competition ranked No. 1 in the U20 women’s pole vault.
Miami’s Symone Mason also competed Tuesday, running in the women’s 400m for Team USA. The rising sophomore finished 30thoverall with a time of 55.66 seconds.
Selina Dantzler will be the only Cane in competition Wednesday, when the incoming freshman represents Germany in the qualifying round of the shot put. Dantzler will be in Group A, set for 3:15 a.m. ET, with the 12 best performances advancing to the final at 10:19 a.m. later Thursday morning. Dantzler recently won gold in the shot put at the 2017 IAAF World U18 Championships and was the 2016 German U18 Champion in both the shot put and discus.
