Canes Recognized For Excellence in Classroom
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s swimming & diving program was among those recognized by the Collegiate Swimming & Diving Coaches Association for America (CSCAA) for excellence in the classroom, the organization announced.
The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Hurricanes posted a team GPA of 3.48 this spring – a mark tied for the fifth-highest in the Atlantic Coast Conference and tied as the 16th-highest among all schools in “Power Five” conferences.
In addition to contributing to the team award, three Hurricanes were recognized for outstanding individual performances: freshman Annie Kyriakidis, senior Wally Layland and junior Roxanne Yu.
The CSCAA Academic All-America award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
In addition to the first-team selections, others were named as Honorable Mentioned selections. These students have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a “B” time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.
Layland was recognized with first-team honors, while Kyriakidis and Yu earned Honorable Mention honors.
