WBB to Host Preseason WNIT Opener
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will play Stephen F. Austin at the Watsco Center in the first round of the 2018 Preseason WNIT, as announced Tuesday afternoon by Triple Crown Sports.
Miami is set to play the Ladyjacks Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. in the third of the tournament’s eight opening-round matchups.
The victor will face either Hartford or Morgan State two days later, with the time and location to be determined, while the loser heads to the consolation bracket.
Whichever team advances from Miami’s four-team pod will meet Marquette, Montana State, Northern Iowa or Delaware in the semifinals either Nov. 13 or 15.
The championship of the 16-team tournament is set for Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m., live on CBS Sports Network.
Each team is guaranteed at least three games, with the two programs advancing to the finale playing four apiece. A participant school hosts each contest in the tournament.
Miami is one of nine schools competing in the Preseason WNIT for the first time, along with Auburn, Iowa State, Montana State, Morgan State, Niagara, Nicholls State, Texas State and Yale.
