Atherley Accepted to NCAA Indoor Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s Michelle Atherley has been accepted as a competitor in the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships, as announced by the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Committee.

Atherley is one of 16 competitors set to compete in the women’s pentathlon. The junior enters the meet with the 10th-best pentathlon score this season, set at the 2018 ACC Indoor Championships. Atherley’s score of 4,159 points earned her a silver medal at the conference meet and cemented her spot in the field at the NCAA Championships.

A year ago, Atherley was the ACC women’s pentathlon champion and finished fourth in the women’s pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a school record and personal-best score of 4,310 points.
 
The championships will be held March 9 and 10 in College Station, Texas, and will be hosted by Texas A&M at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live starting at 6:30 p.m. ET March 9 and starting at 5 p.m. ET March 10. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 7 p.m. ET Sunday, March 11 on ESPN2.
