This is Miami’s first meeting at Boston College since the 2012 season. | 2001: The 2001 Miami Hurricanes are arguably the greatest college football team ever assembled, but the future national champions needed some late-game heroics from superstar safety Ed Reed to clinch a victory at Boston College that year. Four field goals from kicker Todd Sievers had the Canes ahead, 12-7, with less than a minute to play, but the Eagles were at the UM nine yard line and threatening to score. A tipped pass landed in the hands of defensive lineman Matt Walters and Reed ripped the ball from his teammates hands and he fell towards the turf and sprinted 80 yards to the end zone to score Miami’s only touchdown of the game and secure an 18-7 victory for the Canes. |
