Hurricanes Open Day 1 Competition at the Bedford Cup

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team returned to action Thursday for Day 1 play at the 2017 Bedford Cup. Florida State University is playing host to the event.

Miami’s doubles teams were the story of the day for the Hurricanes, as all three advanced in the main draw of the Doubles A bracket to advance to the Quarterfinals.

In singles competition, senior Christian Langmo led all individuals, as he registered a pair of victories. His first victory on the day came against UNF’s Sahil Deshmukh where he registered a thrilling three-set match victory by a count of 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 10-6. His next victory came versus FAU’s Remi Chancerel (FAU) where he posted a straight-set triumph, winning 7-6 (8), 6-3.

With the two wins, Langmo moved to 6-1 on the year and advanced to the Quarterfinals. 

Miami’s Dane Dunlap, Adria Sorianio Barrera, Bojan Jankulovski, Niclas Genovese, Pablo Aycart Joya also posted wins to open competition.

Miami, which is one of 12 Florida teams competing in this year’s event, will return to action tomorrow morning. Click here for complete Day 1 results.
