Vittek Promoted to Associate Head Coach
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After two seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s tennis program, Filip Vittek has been promoted to associate head coach, head coach Alex Santos announced Wednesday.
Last season, he helped the Hurricanes win 14 matches including four over ranked opponents. He helped Antonio Prat and Nacho Serra Sanchez earn All-ACC Third Team honors in singles, the duo’s first career all-conference distinction. Prat notched a 20-10 overall record with five ranked wins as Serra Sanchez recorded a 17-7 ledger.
“Filip is a proven leader in the coaching industry,” Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis Paige Yaroshuk-Tews said. “He has an incredible amount of knowledge for the game and a special connection with each player. His future at Miami is very bright!”
In his first season, Vittek helped the Hurricanes to their first berth back to the NCAA tournament since 2022 and their 30th appearance in program history. The team went 13-11 overall and went undefeated at home. He helped Miami earn two top-25 wins and assisted Martin Katz to his first conference honor, earning a spot on the All-ACC Second Team in singles, while leading him to his highest ranking of No. 20 in singles and No. 43 in doubles, and his first qualification to the NCAA Singles Championships in the fall of 2024.

Vittek joined the staff after spending two years as a tennis coach and academy director at Add2Performance in Tampa. Prior to his time there, he worked as an assistant coach and hitting partner for ATP Tour professional Dominik Koepfer, who competed in four Grand Slams and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Under his guidance, we’ve earned two NCAA individual championship appearances and an NCAA team championship berth in just two seasons. He joined Santos at Pitt for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In 2018, Vittek helped guide the Panthers to their first ACC tournament win in school history, highest ranked singles player and highest ranked doubles pair in program history.
As a University of San Diego graduate, Vittek left a mark on the program, where he set the school record for most career doubles wins, earned a career-high ITA doubles ranking of No. 7 and was the first student-athlete in school history to win four consecutive WCC Tournament Championships. He was also named the 2014 Male Torero Rookie of the Year, was All-WCC First Team in doubles and singles and was the 2015-16 ITA Southwest Region Player to Watch.
