Women’s Tennis Ready to Open Fall Campaign
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set to begin its 2017 fall season this weekend.
The majority of the team will stay in Coral Gables as the Hurricanes host the Miami Fall Invite at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Senior Sinead Lohan, the eighth-ranked player in the nation, will be at the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Initially scheduled to open play last week at the Duke Bonk Invitational, Miami did not make the trip to Cary, N.C., due to Hurricane Irma.
The Miami Fall Invite also features players from Auburn, FGCU and Pittsburgh. Action will take place Friday through Sunday with matches beginning at 9 a.m., each day. Doubles competition will come first and singles will follow afterwards, starting not before 10 a.m.
Friday, the Hurricanes meet Pittsburgh in doubles and FGCU in singles. Saturday, Miami takes on FGCU in doubles and Auburn in singles. On the final day, 17th-year head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ team faces Auburn in doubles and Pittsburgh in singles.

The 42nd-annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic, an ITA Gold Level event, is also set for Friday through Sunday. Action takes place at The Town Club in Fox Point, Wis., the first two days and then the title matches on the last day will be at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee.
Lohan, the highest-ranked of the 30 singles competitors, earned a bye through the first round as the top overall seed. She will begin play either Drake’s Tess Herder or Iowa’s Danielle Burich in the second round at approximately 1 p.m. ET.
