Coley Selected in Seventh Round of 2017 NFL Draft

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Stacy Coley was selected with the 219th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings Saturday afternoon in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

With his selection, Coley becomes the first Hurricane wide receiver drafted since the Indianapolis Colts took Phillip Dorsett in 2015. Coley is the 38th Miami wide receiver to be taken in the NFL Draft in the modern era.

Since 2000, Miami has had 12 wide receivers taken in the NFL Draft.

Coley, a three-time All-ACC honoree, finished his four-year career with 166 receptions (second all-time), 2,218 receiving yards (fifth all-time) and 20 touchdown receptions (tied for fourth all-time).

Coley burst on the scene as a true freshman in 2013 where he played in all 13 games and made six starts, closing the year with 33 receptions for 591 receiving yards and seven touchdowns en route to being named a Freshman All-American by 247Sports and the FWAA.

After catching 23 passes as a sophomore, Coley more than doubled that output as a junior, hauling in 47 receptions for 689 yards and four touchdowns.

As a senior in 2016, Coley played in all 13 games and made 10 starts. He also posted single-season career highs in receptions (63), yards (754) and touchdowns (9).

Coley also established himself as one of the Hurricanes’ all-time best returners, totaling 1,142 kick return yards (third all-time) and 325 punt return yards.

Coley is the sixth Hurricane selected in this year’s draft.
